D’oh!

I’ve screwed up the date calculation on the Blogroll.
And I thought it was so clever, too.

Where have I been?

You may be asking. Or not. Y’know, it varies.

I’ve been busy at work. Bossette is on extended leave, and while I’ve loved the challenge of being everything to everyone, I’ll be glad when some of that is taken back.

I’ve reading a bit lately. Read Talon of the Silver Hawk. It was disappointing. I expected more, for some reason.

I’ve just about finished The DaVinci Code.
It’s a good book. Not a *great* book, but a good book. It will never be an epic, but it’s a good journey into the serect world of the grail, the Priory of Sion and the Templar Knights.

I got both of those books as e-books. The first proper ones I’ve had, rather than OCR-ed scans. I’d do it again, cos if the book is worth it to buy paper, then I’d rather get a discount and have it electronically.

So anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to.

Rameny Goodness

FROM The Kansas City Star via Fark (http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/6103558.htm)

What’s in a name?

Good news, if your last name is Muhammad and you owed late fees at the Kansas City Public Library.

On Saturday, a man walked into the Kansas City Public Library’s Southeast branch and paid off more than $600 in outstanding fines for everyone whose last name is Muhammad.

And it didn’t go on the Visa card; he paid the debt off in ramen noodles. Each year the library is host for a food drive in which the tardy can donate canned or nonperishable goods and wipe away the fines. Each item clears $1 of debt.

That’s right — more than 600 packages of ramen noodles. The man had to make two trips, prompting this recollection from Gretchen Dombrock, branch manager: “I’ve never seen so many packages of ramen noodles.”

The benefactor had originally come in to pay off the debts of family members; their fines were a little more than $100.

The man has asked to remain anonymous, the library said. The only thing known about him is his last name: Muhammad.

More RSS Shenanigans

You should see, bottom right, “Latest Forum Posts”.
This shows you the last 15 active topics on the forums. Some topics might seem old, but since it’s based on topic activity, not individual posts, maybe it will prompt one or both of you gentle readers to post in older topics.

I also did it cos I’m too lazy to click the “Forums” link over there…

IFFIMP

The PS2 just keeps on giving. There’s a game coming out soon. A new game, online-capable when it comes out.
SOCOM: Navy SEALS.
Think bastard son of Splinter Cell and Rainbow. Only the good kind of bastard.

It comes with a headset microphone, not for VoIP online play, although it does work for that.

You tell the fucking game what to do. No, really.

You look over at your teammates, say “Hold Position.”. And they do. They stay absofuckinlutely still.
Like Splinter Cell, you have to hide bodies, but as an extra bonus, you get shot, you die. Simple as that. 1 headshot, you’re dead. No health meters, no.

Loving it.

This is Cool

Astronauts on the ISS were at just the right angle for this shot. Can only be subtitled “That’s no moon!”

Felines

My cat is unwell. She was urinating blood a couple of days ago, and stopped right after I spent $130 on the vet. I mean *right* after.
She got an antibiotic shot from the vet, plus a loong course of antibiotic pills, to be taken morning and night.
She’s feeling much better. How do I know? Cos the little turd is hiding behind my desk, right where I can’t reach her, cos it’s time for her pill.

Or at least it was a few hours ago.

Bitch.
