NaNoWriMo 2003

N-Gage
So we’re walking past the mobile phone shop and I spy an N-Gage display.
I have to go in and have a look.
I check out the options, select the Tomb Raider game, and play.
Clunky.
Very clunky controls. I was tempted, if the sales guy came over, to get him to show me how to change the game, but he didn’t. Bastard.
It’s a large, cumbersome GBA-clone, with 1/3 smaller screen and controls harder to work, with a stupid cart change method.
It just sucks. The only reason for its existance, is to grab a share of the mobile phone market which in itself is greater that the mobile gaming market, just so Nokia can claim the highest-seller tag. Same as what they did with the camera-in-phone idea. Nokia sell more “digital cameras” than Kodak now.
It’s a cheap shot with an inferior product, but people will buy it.
I’m sorry, but sometimes things are just *too* shiny.
Something’s….different…
I get to work this morning and my desk is shoved against the back wall, another desk in the position my desk was in, the filing cabinet that was at my back now on my left.
The wall that separated the factory from the office is being moved 5 feet to the left - ie towards me.
There is less space around me now. I am in an infinitely more defensible position.
That’s what I get for having a day off.
Also, this is the second time I’ve typed this, as when I set up the database I had a Gatesism - “I’ll never need any more entries than what a ‘tinyint’ can give me!”
