ASUS are installing a lightweight, instant-on linux on their motherboards, as a layer between bios and OS, called Splashtop. It has a browser and Skype and… uh… that’s about it, but there’s almost nothing you can’t do with a web-suite of apps like google docs anyway.
Just rip out the HD and work with the Splashtop.
